  • 1 bag frozen tater tots
  • 1 can chili (your choice of beans or meat)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Feel free to customize with your favorite cheese.
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced (optional) Adds flavor and crunch.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup sour cream (optional for serving) Serve on the side for added creaminess.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. If using, dice your onion.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the can of chili and diced onions.
  4. Spread the chili mixture in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Layer the frozen tater tots evenly over the chili.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top of the tater tots.
Baking
  1. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  2. Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  3. Serve hot, with a dollop of sour cream if desired.

Notes

Experiment with different types of chili for variation. Avoid thawing tater tots before baking to maintain crispiness.
