Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your doughnut pan.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it becomes golden brown and emits a nutty aroma.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the melted brown butter, sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk. Use a whisk to mix until thoroughly combined.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula until just combined.
- Transfer the batter into a piping bag or a zipper plastic bag with the corner snipped off. Fill the doughnut molds about halfway full.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the doughnuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Add your favorite toppings or enjoy them plain.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. They freeze beautifully and can be reheated in the microwave or low oven.
