Preparation
- In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat about 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the pot. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Make sure the meat is well-cooked and no longer pink.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, blending everything thoroughly. Add the dried oregano and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serving
- When ready, serve your Bolognese sauce over your favorite pasta, or in lasagna, or with a side of garlic bread.
Notes
To elevate your Bolognese sauce, consider using ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Allow the sauce to simmer longer for deeper flavor.
