Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cans refrigerated biscuits
  • 4 cups diced apples (preferably honeycrisp or granny smith) Choose firm apples that hold their shape when baked.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup melted butter To be drizzled over the mixture.
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) Can be replaced with oats for a nut-free option.
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional) Pairs well with the casserole.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to help your casserole bake evenly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Toss them well to ensure everything is evenly coated.
  3. Open the biscuit cans and cut each biscuit into quarters.
  4. In another large bowl, mix the biscuit pieces with the apple mixture. Gently fold them together until all the biscuit pieces are coated.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture, and if using, add the chopped nuts now. Mix until well combined.
  6. Pour the entire mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Cooking
  1. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  2. Let it cool slightly before serving. Pair with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra deliciousness.

Notes

Keep an eye on the casserole towards the end of cooking. If the top browns too quickly, tent it with aluminum foil. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes for best results.
