Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, and milk. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix well but avoid overmixing.
- Shape the mixture into oval patties approximately ½ inch thick.
- Place the patties in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each for even cooking.
- Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the patties, spreading it evenly.
- If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
Baking
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cooked through and cheese is melted.
Serving
- Let it cool slightly, then serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for 2-3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F until warmed through.
