Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can (6 oz) Tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Harissa (or to taste)
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the tomato paste and harissa. Stir them together until they are fully incorporated.
  3. Pour in the olive oil and lemon juice. Add your minced garlic, cumin, coriander, and paprika. Stir well to combine.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste, adjusting as needed.
  5. If the sauce is too thick, add a little water one tablespoon at a time until you achieve your desired consistency.
  6. Use the sauce immediately or allow it to sit for flavors to meld together.

Notes

For substitutions, use a mix of chili paste or crushed red pepper flakes instead of harissa. Letting your sauce sit for about 30 minutes can enhance the flavors. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze in ice cube trays for convenient portions.
